TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- A Tallahassee woman is recovering Tuesday after fighting for her life against a bobcat.

Elaine Grace, 57, says she was walking her dog on a trail behind an apartment complex Monday when her dog noticed the big cat in the bushes. That's when the bobcat attacked them, but Grace was able to fend it off until help arrived.

"I just grabbed it by the throat and held it down and screamed and screamed and screamed until these great people, Cindy and Chad, came, but it felt like I was screaming forever," she said.

Grace received several deep scratches and puncture wounds to the shoulder and chest, but is in good condition.

The bobcat will be euthanized and checked for rabies.
