How Can I Get HDTV? Do I Need A Subscription?
•You can pick up WFTV’s HDTV signal free with the right equipment. First, you need an HD-TV or HD-ready TV. You need an antenna (a set of regular rabbit ears will work but realistically, you probably want something better). You also need a decoder box. If you’ve bought an HD-TV, the decoder box is already inside. If you’ve bought an HD-ready TV, you need a separate decoder box.•You can also receive an HD signal by having your local cable company come and install an HD cable box. But remember, you’ll still need an HD or HD-ready TV to enjoy high-definition television.•You can also get something called a cable card. It’s a space saver. You don’t need a cable box. But you do have to have a cable card-ready TV. And you can’t get pay-per-view with a cable card. You also can’t use it with a cable company’s digital video recorder.•Finally, you can also receive an HD signal from your satellite provider. As with cable, the provider will come and install and HD box in your home.
