LAPD Dietician Tries To Arrest Obesity

Dietician Jokes She's Not 'Food Police'

POSTED: 3:19 pm EDT May 7, 2008

Rana Parker wants to protect and serve the LAPD -- protect them from doughnuts and serve them healthy food.

Parker is a dietitian who works full-time for the Los Angeles Police Department. She tries to help everyone from raw recruits to the top brass make good food choices.

She jokes with officers that she's not the food police.

But Parker said she gives officers information that aids them in making sound decisions about what they choose to eat.

Recruit Ashley Goodroe is a convert. She said she's dropped four dress sizes since September thanks to Parker's advice.
