Couple Says Mold In Apartment Is Making Their Children Sick

POSTED: 12:19 pm EST March 29, 2004

An Orange County couple says mold in their apartment is making their eight-week-old baby and two-year-old child sick. The family lives at the Alexan at Maitland Crossing.

The children's parents say they complained about the mold for a month, but the complex only cleaned the area and then repainted it.

Now, the family's pediatrician says the children are suffering from respiratory problems because of the mold.

"It clears the portion you can see, that's it. Cures nothing behind the scenes. You just add water to the issue and it makes it worse. You pant over and it comes through and you're back to where you started from," says father James Conner.

The Conners say they don't want any money from the apartment complex. They just want their unit tested to make sure it's safe.
