Laura loses tropical characteristics over cold waters,

At 1100 am ast, 1500z, the center of laura was located near latitude 46.5 north, longitude 46.5 west or about 315 miles, 505 km, east of cape race newfoundland.

Laura is moving toward the north-northeast near 18 mph, 30 km/hr. A turn to the northeast is expected within the next 24 hours followed by a turn to the east.

Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph, 75 km/hr, with higher gusts. Even though laura is no longer a tropical cyclone, it is expected to maintain its strength as an extratropical low for at least the next couple of days.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 230 miles, 370 km from the center.

Estimated minimum central pressure is 995 mb, 29.38 inches.
