Darden Restaurants distributed nearly 1,000 backpacks filed with age-specific school supplies on Saturday, August 11 to the PKZ (Parramore Kidz Zone) and City Teenz at the City Recreation Department on Livingston Street. WFTV Eyewitness News Anchor Martie Salt was on hand to welcome dignitaries as well as WFTV Eyewitness News Anchor Vanessa Echols, WFTV Reporter Melonie Holt and Meteorologist Ben Smith. Overall preparations for food, drinks and activities included nearly 2,000 people participating.

Jeff Jensen is a recipient of a 9 Family Connection and Partners I AM THE ONE grant. Jeff took his money and is using it to teach young children about computer programming. At the same time he is teaching a group of high school students an even bigger lesson.
