Robbery Suspect Found Drinking Beer At Nearby Restaurant

Clearly, beer was more important than freedom. An accused bank robber only made a half-hearted getaway in Orange County.

Sheriff's investigators said 40-year-old James Taylor held up the Bank of America inside a Publix grocery store on Chickasaw Trail, Monday. But rather than getting out of sight, an eyewitness watched Taylor drive his van to Giovanni's Restaurant in the same parking lot.

When deputies arrived, Taylor was sitting outside the restaurant drinking a beer.

"He never actually left the parking lot. I was like, this guy's crazy," said eyewitness Adolfo Florez.

Investigators said Taylor denied the robbery, but they found a weapon in his van and cash.
