VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. -- With songs by Hannah Montana, the "Disney" CD looks innocent enough, but the music that actually played from it is enough to make any parent blush.A Volusia County father wants other parents to know that CD's dirty secret before their children listen to it, because the music came as quite a shock to the family. While it looked like a Disney CD that Jay Scott's daughter got as a Christmas gift, the music on it was actually from the Diplomats, a hip-hop group out of New York and it's not what Hannah Montana fans are used to hearing.
It's music to the ears of somebody, but it was the last thing Scott expected to hear coming from his 6-year-old daughter's room on Christmas day."Even the radio mix is at least cleaner. It was quite explicit," Scott said.A gift from a grandmother, the CD was an exclusive product of Toys R Us. From the packaging to the disc art, there is nothing to indicate it is anything but a Disney CD."It was bought by a grandmother for a grandchild. It's got Disney written all over it," Scott said.Scott wondered if his disc was the only one with problems, but Eyewitness News did some searching and found a similar story coming out of California. Eyewitness News went to a local store and bought a copy, opened it up and put it in. It was just what it was supposed to be."Check what your kid's got," Scott said. The local store manager told Eyewitness News he's had no reports about anything similar. Eyewitness News contacted the corporate offices for Disney Records and Toys R Us, but neither company replied by late Thursday afternoon.
