Healed Thompson Returns To Action, 1974 Tournament Final

After suffering a concussion from a hard fall while blocking a shot in the 1974 East Regional Final -- a spill that left him laying motionless for 4 minutes and required 15 stitches to mend his head -- North Carolina State's David Thompson returned to action in the Final Four and led the Wolfpack to a national title.

McGuire Says Goodbye With Tears, Trophy, 1977 Tournament Final

Al McGuire made his last game as Marquette's head coach a memorable one as he led MU to a national title with a win over North Carolina in the 1977 championship game. After winning college basketball's coveted crown, McGuire openly cried tears of joy.

Smith's Layup Sends DePaul Home, 1981 Second Round

DePaul entered the 1981 NCAA Tournament as a No. 1 seed and the best team in the country, but the Blue Demons made an early exit when John Smith of No. 9 seed St. Joseph's made a layup in the game's final seconds to give the Hawks a 49-48 second-round win.

Brown's Bad Pass, 1982 Tournament Final

With 8 seconds left in the 1982 national championship game, Georgetown trailed North Carolina 63-62. The Hoyas had the ball and were playing for the final shot when Fred Brown, who thought he was passing to teammate Eric Smith, threw the ball to the Tar Heels' James Worthy, giving UNC the victory.

Jimmy V's Celebration, 1983 Tournament Final

North Carolina State's Lorenzo Charles recorded a dunk in the last seconds of the 1983 NCAA Tournament final to give the Wolfpack a 54-52 upset victory over favored Houston.

Stunned, N.C. State's head coach Jimmy Valvano ran around the court, looking for someone to hug in celebration.

Smart Sinks Syracuse, 1987 Tournament Final

Keith Smart connected on a 16-foot baseline jumper with four seconds left in the game to give Indiana a 74-73 victory over Syracuse in the 1987 national championship game.

Robinson's Clutch Free Throws, 1989 Tournament Final

Rumeal Robinson made two free throws with three seconds on the clock to lift Michigan over Seton Hall in final of the 1989 NCAA Tournament.

Laettner Downs Kentucky, 1992 East Regional Final

Trailing by one with two seconds remaining in overtime, Duke's Grant Hill launched an inbounds pass down court to teammate Christian Laettner. The Blue Devil made the catch -- with his back to the basket -- took a dribble, faked, then shot and sank a 17-foot jumper to lead Duke over Kentucky and into the Final Four.

Chris Webber's Timeout Blunder, 1993 Tournament Final

Trailing 73-71 with 19 seconds left in the final of the 1993 NCAA Tournament, Michigan sophomore Chris Webber rebounded a missed free throw and then made a memorable blunder.

The forward dribbled to half court, stopped in front of the Michigan bench and called a timeout. But the Wolverines were out of timeouts, resulting in a technical foul. The Tar Heels connected on the ensuing free throws and clinched a 77-71 victory.

Thurman's Trey, 1994 Tournament Final

Arkansas guard Scotty Thurman launched up a 3-pointer with 53 seconds left in the 1994 national championship game to lift the Razorbacks over Duke 76-72.
