(Sports Network) - Brian Roberts went 2-for-4 with a triple, and the Baltimore bullpen threw four scoreless innings, as the Orioles opened interleague play with a 5-3 victory over the Washington Nationals. Melvin Mora, who missed the past two games with a sore shoulder, doubled and batted in a run, while Nick Markakis and Kevin Millar each had an RBI. Luke Scott hit a solo homer for Baltimore, which went 2-4 against its Beltway rival last season. Garrett Olson (3-0) gave up three runs on nine hits in five innings, and struck out three, while Matt Albers threw two-plus scoreless innings of relief. George Sherrill tossed a perfect ninth for his 16th save of the season for the Orioles, who have won three in a row and six of seven. Ryan Zimmerman had three hits and two RBI, while Lastings Milledge and Jesus Flores each had two base-hits, but the Nationals had a two-game win streak snapped. Shawn Hill (0-1) took the loss after allowing five runs -- four earned -- on eight hits in five frames.

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Jayson Werth slugged a career-best three home runs and tied a franchise record with eight runs batted in as the Philadelphia Phillies trounced the Toronto Blue Jays, 10-3, in the opener of a three-game interleague set at Citizens Bank Park. Werth's power display included his first career grand slam, and he became the fifth Phillie to knock in eight runs in a game, joining Kitty Bransfield, Gavvy Cravath, Willie Jones and Mike Schmidt. Ryan Howard and Shane Victorino each drove in a run for the Phillies, winners in three of their last four games. Jimmy Rollins went 2-for-4, doubled and scored a pair of runs. Jamie Moyer (3-3) pitched 6 2/3 strong innings, holding the Blue Jays to three runs on seven hits while striking out five. Alex Rios went 2-for-4 and drove in a run for the Jays, who had a four-game win streak snapped. Marco Scutaro and Scott Rolen knocked in a run apiece for Toronto. David Purcey (0-1) was shelled for eight runs on five hits and four walks in just three innings.

Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - Brandon Phillips hit a two-run home run and scored the winning run as the Cincinnati Reds opened a three-game interleague set against the Cleveland Indians with a 4-3 win. Adam Dunn hit a solo homer and forced in the game-winner while David Weathers (1-2) got the win for pitching a scoreless inning for the Reds, who have a season-high four-game win streak. Johnny Cueto had a no-hitter through five innings and finished the contest charged with three runs on three hits, with a pair of walks and seven strikeouts, in six innings of work. Casey Blake, Travis Hafner and Jhonny Peralta each hit a solo home run for the Indians, who had a three-game winning streak stopped. Jensen Lewis (0-2) was handed the loss while Jeremy Sowers was charged with three runs on five hits in five innings of work.

Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Brett Tomko hurled six innings of two-run ball and Miguel Olivo blasted a two-run homer as the Kansas City Royals held on to beat the Florida Marlins, 7-6, in the opener of a three-game interleague set at Dolphin Stadium. Tomko (2-4) allowed just five hits and one walk, striking out four to snap a personal four-game losing streak and extended the Royals team winning streak to five. Olivo was 2-for-4 scoring two runs with a stolen base and Jose Guillen was 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI. Florida starter Andrew Miller (3-3) allowed four runs - two earned - on five hits in five innings. He struck out six for the Marlins, who are riding a four-game losing streak after ripping off seven straight wins. Dan Uggla went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI and a walk while Wes Helms and Jeremy Hermida had two RBI each.

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Mark Kotsay doubled in the winning run with two outs in the eighth, lifting the Atlanta Braves over the Oakland Athletics, 3-2, in the opener of a three-game interleague set at Turner Field. Chipper Jones was 2-for-3, scored the winning run and walked while Brian McCann went 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI for Atlanta, which was coming off a loss and a 2-5 road trip. Atlanta starter Jair Jurrjens allowed two runs -- both unearned on his own throwing error -- in five innings, on eight hits and three walks. Oakland starter Dana Eveland was cruising until the sixth, when he allowed his only two runs of the night, and left after 5 2/3 innings. He gave up six hits and three walks, and struck out four. Bobby Crosby had three hits and Ryan Sweeney was 2-for-4, scoring a run for Oakland, which dropped its fourth straight and sixth of its past seven.

Arlington, TX (Sports Network) - Josh Hamilton went 5-for-5, hit two home runs, scored four times, drove in five runs and missed the cycle by a double, as the Texas Rangers pounded the Houston Astros, 16-8, in the opener of a three-game interleague set. Michael Young and David Murphy both hit homers and drove in three runs for the Rangers, who have won three of their last four. Brandon Boggs totaled two RBI in the win. Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Chris Shelton each added solo home runs for Texas. Sidney Ponson got the start for Texas and went five innings, giving up seven runs -- just three earned -- on nine hits in five innings, but didn't factor in the decision. Jamey Wright (2-1) pitched a perfect seventh inning to get the win. Darin Erstad had a pair of doubles to go with his two RBI for Houston, which saw its two-game win streak halted. Carlos Lee and Kazuo Matsui each collected two hits in the loss. Lance Berkman has hit safely in 14 straight games with his 2-for-4 performance at the plate. Shawn Chacon got the start for the Astros and was touched for eight runs -- five earned -- on six hits in 3 1/3 frames. Wesley Wright (3-1) absorbed the loss after he was knocked around for two runs on three hits in 1 1/3 innings.

St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Andy Sonnanstine allowed one run over eight innings, and Akinori Iwamura went 3-for-5 with a run batted in, as Tampa Bay opened interleague play with a 3-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. Sonnanstine (6-1) scattered eight hits, walked none and struck out four for the Rays, who have won eight of nine. Troy Percival pitched a perfect ninth to secure his 11th save. Sonnanstine also had a pair of hits, along with Evan Longoria and Jason Bartlett. Carl Crawford and Carlos Pena each had an RBI for Tampa Bay, which pounded out 12 hits, but left 10 runners on base in the first contest of this three-game series. Chris Duncan went 2-for-4 with a solo homer, while Troy Glaus had two hits, including a triple, but the Cardinals have now lost eight of 10. Braden Looper (5-3) took the loss despite allowing three runs on 10 hits in six innings of work. Looper also finished 2-for-2 at the plate for St. Louis, which won all three of the previous games between the clubs -- a June series in 2005.

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Delmon Young went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two runs scored, and the Minnesota Twins avoided ninth inning trouble to edge the Colorado Rockies, 4-2, in the opener of a three-game series at Coors Field. Nick Blackburn (4-2) allowed two runs on six hits over seven strong innings for the Twins, who snapped a three-game losing streak. Joe Nathan put two men on in the ninth but escaped with his 13th save. Adam Everett drove in two runs for Minnesota, while Justin Morneau went 2-for-4. Carlos Gomez singled, scored a run, and made a game-saving catch in the bottom of the ninth to lock up the win. Clint Barmes went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and a run batted in for the Rockies, who dropped their sixth straight decision. Ryan Spilborghs, starting in place of Matt Holliday who was scratched with a stiff lower back, drove in the other Colorado run. Ubaldo Jimenez (1-4) allowed three runs on eight hits over seven frames.

Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Eric Byrnes went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, two RBI and two runs scored as the Arizona Diamondbacks edged the Detroit Tigers, 4-3, in the opener of a three-game interleague set at Chase Field. Chris Young drove in a run while Justin Upton scored once for the Diamondbacks, who have won four straight. Dan Haren (5-2) got the win as he gave up three runs on six hits in seven innings of work. Miguel Cabrera hit a two-run home run while Magglio Ordonez went 3-for-4 with a run scored for the Tigers, who have dropped five straight. Zach Miner (1-3) took the loss while Jeremy Bonderman gave up two runs on three hits with four walks and five strikeouts in six-plus innings of work.

Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Joe Saunders pitched 7 1/3 strong innings en route to his seventh win of the season as the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim topped the Los Angeles Dodgers, 4-2, in the opener of the three-game "Freeway Series" at Angel Stadium. Saunders (7-1) held the Dodgers to two runs on five hits as the Angels snapped a two-game losing streak. Francisco Rodriguez worked a scoreless ninth for the league-leading 17th save. Vladimir Guerrero knocked in a pair of runs for the Angels, while Garret Anderson went 2-for-4 with a run batted in. Maicer Izturis and Gary Matthews Jr. each went 2-for-4 and combined to score three runs. Andre Ethier belted a two-run homer for the Dodgers, who had a two-game win streak snapped and lost for the sixth time in eight games. Hiroki Kuroda (1-3) took the loss after allowing four runs -- three earned -- on seven hits over 6 1/3 frames, racking up five strikeouts.

Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - Brian Giles went 4-for-5, drove in two runs, scored once and is now 7-for-9 with three doubles in his last two games, as the San Diego Padres edged the Seattle Mariners, 6-4, in the opener of a three-game interleague set. Tadahito Iguchi went 3-for-5 with a solo homer and finished with two runs batted in and two scored for the Padres, who have only won in two of their last five contests. Khalil Greene and Josh Bard had an RBI apiece in the win. Chris Young (4-3) took the win after going six innings and giving up four runs on five hits. Trevor Hoffman earned his eighth save of the year with three strikeouts in the ninth. Ichiro Suzuki snapped an 0-16 slump with a single in the seventh for the M's, who have dropped three of four. Kenji Johjima went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, while Yuniesky Betancourt and Jeff Clement had an RBI each. Miguel Batista (3-5) took the loss after he was touched for six runs on nine hits in 5 1/3 innings of work.

San Francisco, CA (Sports Network) - Gavin Floyd combined with four other pitchers in a five-hit shutout as the Chicago White Sox downed the San Francisco Giants, 2-0, in the opener of a three-game interleague set at AT&T Park. Alexei Ramirez hit the first home run of his career to provide the only offense of the game. Nick Swisher went 1-for-4 with a run scored for the White Sox, who have won three straight. Floyd (4-2) gave up four hits and three walks with three strikeouts in six innings of work. Ray Durham had three hits while Jonathan Sanchez (2-3) got the loss as he gave up two runs on five hits in 6 2/3 innings of work for the Giants, who have dropped their last three games.

NY Mets at NY Yankees, postponed

Bronx, NY (Sports Network) - Friday's game between the New York Mets and the New York Yankees has been postponed due to rain. No makeup date has been announced, but the game will not be made up Saturday, Sunday or Monday. The Yankees' Darrell Rasner (2-0) had been scheduled to go against the Mets' Johan Santana (4-2). As a result of the postponed game, Rasner's turn in the rotation will be skipped. Instead, Andy Pettitte (3-4) will get the nod for the Yankees, going against Santana for the Mets on Saturday afternoon.

Milwaukee at Boston, postponed

Boston, MA (Sports Network) - Friday's interleague contest between the Milwaukee Brewers and Boston Red Sox was postponed due to rain. The game will be made up as a day-night doubleheader on Saturday, with the first beginning at 3:55 p.m. (et) and the second scheduled for an 8:35 p.m. (et) start.
