Cubs Bring Up Hoffpauir, Disable Lieber

Saturday, July 19, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Chicago Cubs made two moves on Friday, prior to the start of a weekend series with the Astros in Houston.

The club recalled infielder Micah Hoffpauir from Triple-A Iowa and placed pitcher Jon Lieber on the 15-day disabled list with a right foot strain.

Hoffpauir hit .400 with six doubles and one run batted in, during a combined 18 games over two previous stints with the Cubs this season.

Lieber, who was signed on a one-year deal by Chicago in the off-season, went 2-3 with a 3.43 earned-run average in 25 appearances prior to the setback.
