(Sports Network) - Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Dustin McGowan underwent season-ending surgery on his pitching shoulder Thursday. The procedure was performed by Dr. Tim Kremchek in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The 26-year-old McGowan, who did not need re-constructive surgery on his rotator cuff, is expected to be sidelined for up to nine months.

McGowan posted a 6-7 record with a 4.37 earned-run average in 19 starts this season.
