Identity Theft/Fraud Protection

If you think you're a potential victim of identity theft, the Florida Attorney General's office recommends you take the following steps:

Step 1:
Report what happened to the three major credit bureaus.
Ask to have a "fraud alert" on your credit report.
Order copies of your report and check for unusual activity.
Request creditors contact you before they open new accounts or change existing accounts.

Step 2:
Contact the fraud departments of your mortgage credit card companies, etc.

Step 3:
Contact your bank and other financial institutions where you do business

Step 4:
Contact law enforcement
Flag your Florida driver's license
