Denver, CO -- (Sports Network) - The Denver Nuggets re-signed restricted free agent swingman J.R. Smith on Friday. The 22-year-old Smith averaged 12.3 points in 74 regular season games and 18.3 points in four playoff contests for the Nuggets last season. "We're extremely delighted to have J.R. back," said Nuggets Vice President of Basketball Operations Mark Warkentien. "His blend of off-the-charts athleticism and long-range shooting ability is rare, especially for someone his age. We believe his best basketball is still to come." The four-year veteran came to Denver in the summer of 2006 from Chicago in exchange for Howard Eisley and a pair of second round-draft picks. Smith was taken 18th overall by the Hornets in the 2004 NBA Draft.
