10 injured when car crashes into Palm Coast Publix

PALM COAST, Fla. — A car barreled through the front doors of a Palm Coast Publix Saturday afternoon injuring 10 people, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.

Officials say the car came through the entrance of the Publix off of Belle Terre Parkway in Palm Coast just before 1:30 Saturday afternoon.

WFTV learned that a man inside was trapped under the car was dragged several isles back into the store and several Publix employees and bystanders actually lifted the car off of the man.

Florida Highway Patrol says it looks as though a 76-year-old woman accidentally hit the gas instead of the brakes and her car went straight into the glass doors of the Publix.

Deputies said the car went far into the store, back a few isles, and the car was only stopped after it hit some shelves.

"I saw a body underneath the car of a man and the people were screaming and crying," said an eyewitness.

There was a total of 10 people injured but all with non-life threatening wounds.

Deputies said the man under the car had serious wounds, but those may have been become critical once he was transported to the hospital.
