Posted: 11:36 pm EDT October 17, 2006Updated: 8:03 am EDT October 18, 2006

The Orange County Convention Center has temporarily banned all taxi companies, but one, from picking people up at the Convention Center.

The National Business Aviation Association requested the Convention Center only allow one cab company to pick up during its convention, running until October 22. In a letter they cited past problems like fare gouging.

Star Taxi paid $400 for the exclusive rights to pick up during the convention.

Cab drivers said their business is suffering and those attending the convention complained about a shortage of cabs.

The Convention Center said their responsibility is to the entire community. It said The National Business Aviation Association brings in $37 million in revenue to the area.
