Emergency Operation Centers Activated

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. -- The City of Daytona Beach's Emergency Operation Center will be partially activated Tuesday until 7 p.m., and Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.Tuesday, damage assessment teams from the Volusia County Property Appraiser's Office and the American Red Cross will conduct initial damage assessments of the affected subdivisions.Figures will be available late Tuesday afternoon.Crews from the Volusia County Road and Bridge Division will clear roads to permit safe access for homeowners later Tuesday.Access will be restricted to homeowners.Progress Energy is working to restore power to Orangewood, Fernwood, Rosewood and Sunrise mobile home parks.Initially as many as 1,000 customers lost power. However, power has been restored to all except those four areas.A citizen information phone number has been established and staff is available to field calls and provide referrals to various support groups.The citizen information number is 671-3333.
