MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. -- Family members of a mother of three told Eyewitness News they want to know why a gunman shot her even though she did everything he asked. Monday, police released a sketch of the man they're looking for.Meanwhile, the victim is in critical condition in the hospital.Investigators said the man, who went into a Burger King on Merritt Island on Sunday, stole $3,000 and shot the manager in the face. The manager's family said the bullet went through her right cheek, tearing apart her jaw, and is still lodged in the left side of her head. The gun, the family said, was fired at such close range that the woman had gunpowder burns on her cheek. If the bullet traveled just an inch in any other direction, she might not have made it."I'm very grateful she's still here," the victim's husband said. His wife, a Burger King manager, was gunned down during a weekend robbery. He said they are just praying for survival.Lisa, the 24-year-old Canaveral Groves victim, told the robber she didn't see his face when he questioned her, but authorities said he still turned and shot her in the head before walking out the door with $3,000 in cash. The victim's family asked Eyewitness News not to use her last name for fear the gunman might still try to harm her."It would take a coward to do this, to shoot a defenseless 24-year-old woman, a mother of three, leave her to die, when all he had to do was turn around vanish off into the dark," said Tom Brown Jr., the victim's father."She can nod her head back and forth, yes or no. She can't talk, but she's writing on the note pad to me," her husband said.Lisa's husband said she wrote that she is still scared and never wants to go back to the restaurant."Physically, she will be okay. Emotionally, the trauma, I don't think it will ever leave her," Brown said.Sheriff's deputies released a sketch of the robber. Authorities said he is still on the run, despite a manhunt over the weekend. The victim's family said, if he's not caught, they fear he wouldn't hesitate to gun down another restaurant worker."Somebody's going to recognize him," the victim's husband said. "He will get what's coming to him."Lisa's husband said he worked at another Burger King on Merritt Island and wrestled a gun away from a robber there. He said fast food restaurants need better security and need to do a better job protecting employees.
