The investigation is ongoing and charges have yet to be filed.
Officials took the school's junior varisty cheerleading coach and physics teacher out of the classroom while they investigate a reported sexual relationship with an underage student. At the high school, Tuesday, classmates of the young man called the relationship with Jennifer Leigh Manuell an open secret."It's still pending and still ongoing," said Lt. Todd Goodyear, Brevard County Sheriff's Office.Eyewitness News reviewed Manuell's personnel file and it shows the 25-year-old has been at the school two years and makes about $35,000 a year.Sources with knowledge of the investigation said the sheriff's office started looking into Manuell because of an anonymous tip and the school has suspended her with pay. It's unclear if the young man involved was one of her physics students or simply went to the Merritt Island school."Depending on what the actual activity is between the teacher and student, it may rise to an actual criminal case," Goodyear said. The school would not comment, because it's an ongoing investigation.
The investigation is ongoing and charges have yet to be filed.
