Dominoes Game Interrupted By Masked Men With AK-47

Posted: 4:43 pm EDT April 12, 2007Updated: 5:45 pm EDT April 12, 2007

A game of dominoes turned into a life-threatening experience when masked men, carrying an AK-47, broke up the game.

Five men in their 40s, 50s and 60s said they play dominoes at a home on Country Run Parkway near Hiawassee all the time, but the games never ended with someone looking down the barrel of an assault rifle.

The men were minding their own business, just playing dominoes for fun. They thought, when two masked men walked in, it was their friends playing a joke, when then things started to spiral out of control.

Celute Nathan was playing dominoes in his garage Wednesday night with four other men when, all of a sudden, he heard a voice shout out.

"'Hey, you guys, put your wallet on the table,'" Nathan said.

They saw two men with masks and an AK-47.

"When I look up, thought it was a joke. Then saw gun like this," Nathan said.

It was not joke.

"I get up and said, 'What you doin'?' He said, 'You think I'm f****** jokin'? Put wallet on the table,'" Nathan said.

Nathan didn't have a wallet. He put down his cell phone and the other men threw in cash. The suspects ran out so fast, they dropped some of the money as they took off.

"A twenty fell on the floor and they don't even stop to pick it up," Nathan said.

The two masked men ran to their white car with a few hundred dollars in cash and Nathan's cell phone and then sped off. Nathan said he now wants to get a gun for himself, in case there is a next time.

"Things happen anywhere, but I'd like to be safe," he said.

Deputies are looking for the men, but they don't have much to go on. The victims said the men didn't act like professional robbers. They're described as slender, black males in their 20s.
