It was a wild Tuesday morning on an Orange County road. Troopers said 22-year-old Hassan Cooper, a Washington DC resident, was driving the wrong way on Semoran Boulevard, hit another car and then attacked bystanders who tried to help.

Troopers said they have no idea what got into the man behind the wheel of the car driving the wrong way on Semoran Boulevard. Cooper allegedly crashed into another car and, before paramedics could even help him, he had to be restrained on a stretcher and have a mask put on his face because he was spitting.

Witnesses saw it all happen.

"Me and my brother were walking across the bridge and we heard a guy swerving. We thought he was joking around so we look on the other side of the bridge to see if he is gonna keep doing it and the next thing you know he is coming over the median and he hit another car," said witness Mark Ciampa.

Ciampa and his brother tried to help Cooper in the car, but he pushed the brothers away. An Orange County deputy was just around the corner and when he arrived more problems started.

"While we were talking to the cop, this guy tried to attack me and my brother and then he moved out of the way and the cop tazed him," Ciampa said.

Troopers were checking to see if Cooper was drinking or on some other substance. They have no explanation for why he was driving on the wrong side of the road and acting so violent.

"The guy started laughing when he got tazed. He was laughing on the ground while he was being tazed. That's how I knew he wasn't right," Ciampa added.

While DUI charges are pending, the sheriff's office said it will charge Cooper with assault and battery because he was so violent. He was also charged with driving the wrong way.
