ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- A builder has promised to use ground penetrating radar to search for old World War II bombs in two Orange County neighborhoods. The neighborhoods are near Odyssey Middle School, where other bombs have been found. The builder said it will come in and check for the remnants of any live bombs this week. And that is a relief to many as the area is in close proximity to Odyssey Middle School where other bombs were found earlier in the year. Some of the homes in the Warwick subdivision on Lee Vista Road sit up against the field where the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers found live World War II bombs.Surveyors have walked every inch of the property immediately surrounding Odyssey Middle School. They dug up soil samples to make sure the land was free of any World War II remnants.Them main concern was checking out the area before kids returned to school. But homeowners in the Warwick subdivision were concerned about their safety, as well.Lennar, the company that developed part of the subdivision has promised homeowners in the Warwick and Lee Vista Square neighborhoods that their land will be surveyed for live bombs, dangerous chemicals and explosives. The surveyors will check every yard, street and driveway. Lennar said that if any digging is needed in the yards or driveways of residents in the neighborhood, they would get the homeowner's permission first.
