Illegal U-Turn Causes Serious Crash In Orlando

POSTED: 7:35 am EDT September 24, 2007

Sunday night a tractor trailer making an illegal u-turn was rear-ended by a car.

The two people in the car were seriously injured and were airlifted to an area hospital. It took crews 40 minutes to cut them out of the vehicle.

The truck driver was not injured.

"The truck had a long bed and it was too long to make the turn from the inside lane, so he tried to make the turn from the outside lane," said trooper Alvez of the Florida Highway Patrol.

Investigators did not say if the car was speeding, but the truck was not allowed to make a u-turn at that intersection.
