It was a frightening moment for 15-year-old David Mahon who went trick or treating with his family in a Minneola neighborhood. After collecting candy, the teen claims he found the razor blade in a small candy bar.David was trick or treating in the Lakewood subdivision off US-27 in Minneola on Wednesday. He was just walking down the street when he saw a candy bar on the ground. He picked it up and put it in the bag with the rest of his candy."More candy for me. I figured a little kid might have dropped the candy," David told Eyewitness News. After the night of trick or treating wrapped up, the 15-year-old and his mom emptied the entire bag of Halloween candy he collected and he happened to notice something strange about the way the Three Musketeers he found on the ground was wrapped. The teen and his mom looked closer, opened it up and found a razor blade."It could've probably killed me had I ate it, or it could've split my mouth or tongue," David said."I didn't know he [picked it up] and that's another reason why we're talking to you guys, because we know there are children that don't tell their parents, 'I'm picking this up and I'm going to eat this piece of candy,'" said Evelyn Turner, David's mother.Police spent quiet a bit of time examining the wrapper and candy bar. They want it to serve as a warning to other parents whose children went trick or treating Wednesday night."It's alarming. It's disturbing. And really what we want to do is make sure the community is aware of what we found and make sure they thoroughly check their child's candy before they eat it," said John Herrell, Lake County Sheriff's Office.Lake County investigators have no idea who might be responsible for the razor blade at this time, but they were processing that candy bar wrapper for fingerprints. If they do find out who's responsible, they will face attempted aggravated battery charges. The teenager maintains he had four three musketeers in his candy bag, but the one with the razor blade inside had a lot of scratches, a sign he claims it was the one he found on the ground.
