Beach Patrol: Red Tide Back In Volusia County

Tuesday, November 27, 2007

The Volusia County Beach Patrol says red tide is back again, just weeks after a widespread outbreak.

The state has detected high levels of the toxic algae in the Ponce Inlet and New Smyrna Beach areas. There are also reports of dead fish washing up on those beaches.

Volusia County Health Department officials said they will take samples Tuesday to test for red tide.

Florida Fish and Wildlife should have the results later this week.
