Man Shot In College Park Despite Handing Over Wallet

Posted: 7:40 am EST December 10, 2007Updated: 7:56 am EST December 10, 2007

A man in College Park was shot by a robber even though he didn't resist and gave up his wallet. The man in his early 50s was targeted outside his apartment on Formosa Avenue as he got home from work around 2:00am Sunday.

A man with a gun approached the victim and demanded his money. Even though the victim gave his money to the robber, the man shot him anyway.

Neighbors were shocked the victim was targeted in their quiet neighborhood.

"He's very quiet, very approachable, very nice man," said neighbor Elizabeth Sewall. "It's awful. We don't have this problem in our neighborhood. It's a very quiet neighborhood, every day, it's very quiet."

Deputies have not released the victim's name or condition.

Deputies and police dogs searched for the shooter, but didn't find him.
