Homeowners Taking Legal Action After Bombs Found At Nearby School

Posted: 7:37 am EST January 8, 2008

Homeowners who live near Odyssey Middle School are seeing their property values drop. Some said they could lose $250,000 because of all the bombs found.

To fight the losses, more than 100 families are suing Morrison Homes and developer Terra Brook Vista in the Warwick subdivision. One house that had been appraised at nearly $600,000 before the bombs were found was receiving offers around $280,000.

One homeowner says the stigma attached to the area is too much to overcome.

"They can take my home. Take my home. We'll talk about damages later, just take my home. I want out," said Ralph Hernandez, a homeowner and realtor.

A Dallas firm is handling the case. It won a similar lawsuit in Texas that took five years to litigate.
