"We're feeling real good, confident. We're going to pick a jury and we're confident that we're going to have a fair and conscientious jury here today," said Robert Berncroft, Snipes' lead attorney. As attorneys arrived to begin the second day of jury selection in the tax evasion trial of Wesley Snipes, the confidence about picking a jury out of an all-white panel was also overshadowed by the first public comment about the fact that no blacks would be on the jury.None were in the jury pool at all."No one has denied that the number we have, which is zero, is important. The big question that we have is, is this an anomaly? Information is no," said Ross Johnson, a member of Snipes' legal team.Jury selection is expected to wrap up in enough time for opening statements to begin Tuesday. It will be the first time the government will reveal why they believe Snipes and his co-defendants were knowingly avoiding taxes and asking the IRS for illegal tax refunds.
