Deputies Arrest 3rd Suspect In Daytona Officer Shooting

Sunday, January 20, 2008

A 17 year old Pine Hills youth was arrested Saturday and charged in the Thursday night incident in which an off duty Daytona Beach Police officer and two teenage burglary suspects were shot.

Ivory Kenneth Anderson was picked up at his home by Orange County Sheriff's deputies, who were led to Anderson by a Crimeline tip.

Daytona officer Jermaine Jones had returned to his home Thursday night to discover three burglary suspects.

The suspects opened fire on Jones after he had warned them to get on the ground.

Jones was hit in the stomach, but shot two teenage suspects, killing one and critically wounding the other.

The officer remains at Orlando Regional Medical Center, but is expected to make a full recovery.

Anderson, who also had an outstanding warrant of armed burglary, will be charged with 2nd degree murder along with other charges because of the death of one of the accomplices.
