LAKE MARY, Fla. -- Follow-up test results are expected to be available Tuesday after water in Seminole County tested positive for E. coli. The positive reading came from a routine test at the Pebble Creek apartments off Lake Mary Boulevard.Customers throughout the northeast part of Seminole County, which mostly includes Lake Mary, have been notified. But currently they're not being told to boil their water.Daniel Toney said when he moved to Lake Mary from Sanford the water tasted so much better that he got rid of his water filtration system. The notice from Seminole County about E. coli has him worried."This is a surprise. It's a very big surprise. This is something you don't expect to hear when you pay every single month for water and now you find out that, hey, it's got E. coli in it. It's very disturbing," Toney said. The County Environmental Services Department found water contaminated with E. coli at the Pebble Creek apartment complex off Lake Mary Boulevard. They said the bacteria are an indication that human or animal waste somehow made its way in the water.A spokesperson said chlorine should've cleaned it, so they believe the water may have been contaminated on the way to the lab. They said the water is safe to use, but as a precaution they are flushing the pipes to get rid of any traces of E. coli.Officials in Seminole County said if the water was dangerous, all 20 samples would've tested positive for E. coli. In this case only one did.Three additional samples have been taken from the area and the results should be back Tuesday.
