Charges Dropped Against Man Accused Of Impersonating Deputy, Raping Woman

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- The State Attorney's Office has dropped all charges against a man accused of impersonating a deputy to rape a woman.Robert Pegues sat behind bars for three months with no bail while he awaited trial. But then his public defender turned up images of his accuser advertising as an escort on Craigslist.org.Phone records also showed Pegues exchanged several calls with the woman before he went to her home."Actually, we were sitting there talking and then she led me into her bedroom and when we got there, I didn't want to go through with the whole spiel," said Pagues.Pegues said when he refused to pay the woman she accused him of rape. The woman who alleged the rape still claims she had never met Pegues before that night.
