Family Suing Nursing Home After Woman Falls From Wheelchair 9 Times, Dies

Posted: 7:05 am EDT March 19, 2008Updated: 8:45 am EDT March 19, 2008

A Titusville nursing home is being sued for negligence in the death of an elderly woman.

Bill Boelke says the Royal Oaks nursing home is responsible for the death of his 83-year old wife, Ruth. Boelke said the nursing staff did not restrain Ruth in her wheelchair and she fell out nine times.

Her family says the last fall killed her.

"She was begging, 'help me, help me. My head hurts.' I'm sorry, every time I repeat it, it breaks me up," said Bill Boelke, the victim's husband.

The home's director said it did call her doctor a few days before she died and sent her to the hospital. The family claims the nursing home should have called for help sooner.
