Members of the Discovery Intermediate School community were shocked when accusations first surfaced against history teacher William Musto, but now there's more."Well, if they investigated it two years ago and something happened again this year, then obviously something is wrong," said former student Kristalyn Fernandez.Fernandez graduated from the school and her little sister attends now. She's shocked to hear that, in March 2006, Musto was involved in a complaint regarding the inappropriate touching of students.Letters from school officials are part of Musto's employment record. Two students complained about the physical contact. The Osceola County Sheriff's Office did investigate, but did not pursue charges. Some parents are still reeling from recent accusations from a 13-year-old student who claims that, in front of the whole class, Musto made a comment about her breasts.Marvis Brooks has two children at the school and is glad an investigation was launched."But, if it's true, he needs to go," Brooks said.Parents and students alike wonder what will happen next. Fernandez said she's heard from the teacher's accusers and his defenders."Some of my friends had him as a teacher and they said it was kind of hard to believe. But my little sister had been telling us that girls had been sitting on his lap. Yeah," she said. "I guess he's not as great as they thought he was. My friends have told me he is the best teacher."Musto's record also includes a 2006 evaluation that calls him a valuable teacher who makes every effort to treat students with respect. He remains reassigned to non-teaching duties as the school system investigates the alleged sexual comment to one of his students.
