Teen Girl Involved In Murder-For-Hire Case Get 2-Year Sentence

Friday, April 4, 2008 – updated: 5:32 pm EDT April 4, 2008

A teenage girl involved up in a bizarre murder-for-hire case will go to prison for two years. Melissa Hensley pleaded guilty to helping a friend hire a hit man in a case of revenge. That hit man turned out to be an undercover cop.

The judge, Friday, told the 16-year-old girl who helped plot the murder she's very lucky it was a cop instead of a hit man.

"You're sentenced to two years in Department of Corrections, have credit for 43 days served," the judge said.

Hensley was handcuffed and sent to jail for plotting to kill five witnesses to the murder of Becky Adair's 18-year-old-son in a University of Central Florida bar parking lot.

"It's been almost two years and I just miss him, I miss him a lot," Becky said Friday.

A doctor testified and said Hensley was mentally disabled and that she was manipulated by the real bad guys to help kill the witnesses. Adair was understanding of that part of the plot, but there's other things she can't comprehend.

"I guess it's bothering me because she didn't apologize to witnesses. I didn't hear that from her mother or Melissa," Becky said.

Hensley's family declined to talk on camera, but her mother told the judge she is a good person and showed her childhood pictures.

"She wanted to be a doctor actually," said Diane Hensley, Melissa's mother.

But Melissa's mother came under fire from the judge and Adair for signing a consent form allowing her daughter to visit a man in jail when she was just 16 years old and plan the murder of five key witnesses.

The biggest trial in the murder case is still yet to come. That's for Eduardo Gonzalez, who's accused of killing Adair's son. One of the most outrageous parts of all is Adair was apparently shot and killed over spilled beer.
