Wednesday, April 30, 2008 – updated: 8:38 am EDT April 30, 2008

There is turmoil in the Ocoee police department. After news of an investigation of Chief Ronald Reffett for allegedly asking for drugs from another employee without a prescription, Channel 9 has also learned nearly 20-percent of the city's officers have applied for jobs with the Orange County Sheriff's Office since January.

Some officers say the problem is low morale and concerns about changes in health care benefits.

Mayor vandergrift "I have not heard the things you mentioned. Each one has their own feelings toward the department and toward the community," said Ocoee Mayor Scott Vandergrift.

The mayor said he's not concerned about it affecting public safety since Ocoee has a mutual aid agreement with other law enforcement agencies.
