Nightclub Confrontation Leads to Shooting Death

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A 40-year-old woman who police said was trying to break up a dispute between a group of women at the Oasis Lounge wound up dead when the verbal fight led to gunshots a few miles away.The shooting happened just after 2:30am Saturday in the 4600 block of Edgemoor Street after the people involved in the nightclub confrontation started up again in the Edgemoor area.According to an Orlando police spokesman, the fight began between the women at Oasis and spilled out into the parking lot. A 40-year-old woman came out of the club and tried to break up the fight. At some point, shots rang out and she left the scene.However. when the participants regrouped and resumed their fight on Edgemoor, the woman returned. Shots were fired again and she was hit.An Orlando officer who heard the shots responded to the scene and found the victim dead on the sidewalk. Her identity has not been released.The crowd that had gathered left the scene and witnesses were able to give police a description of four cars that investigators are trying to track down. One is a blue Expedition, another a tan sedan that might be a Buick or Mazda. A third is a maroon or red Ford Crown Victoria and a fourth is described as a white, four-door sedan.Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Crimeline.
