William Musto, 44, told school district investigators that last March that some boys in his 8th grade history class at Discovery Intermediate were having a conversation about wet t-shirt contests. Musto's own written account says they were "tossing some names around" when he told the 13-year-old student she had perky breasts. He later apologized to her and told investigators he was "truly sorry" for what he said."He should be suspended, forever. Fired. No give classes at all," said parent Marisol Lopez. An Eyewitness News crew knocked on Musto's east Orange County home Wednesday, but no one came to the door. One neighbor, who didn't want to be identified, said she thought Musto's admitted lapse in judgment was "disgusting.""If he's doing this kind of stuff, he needs to be away from children," she said. But during the course of the investigation, Musto gathered 28 support letters from his students, all of which went into his file. One, for instance, reads, "He might have made a mistake, but everyone loves him." Another writes, "I got so much love for Mr. Musto that he was like my best friend." A third student wrote how Musto "respected every single student he had."District administrators disagreed and ruled Musto violated the board's code of ethics and professional conduct, but they only suspended him, even though two years ago Musto was given a warning letter after allegations he touched two female students inappropriately.Musto is expected back in the classroom after his suspension ends on Friday. He's been a teacher at Discovery Intermediate since 2001.
