Florida Highway Patrol troopers are searching for a driver who hit and killed a woman in Brevard County.

Troopers say the victim was found lying in the road on Tropical Trail on Merritt Island early Sunday morning. Her car was nearby.

Investigators believe her car may have broken down and she was walking for help when she was hit. They were able to gather paint fragments from the scene and are looking for a silver Toyota pick-up truck or SUV.

The woman was identified as 45 year old Tammi Lynn Taborn of Cocoa.
