Police said a stray cat may be to blame for a car crash that caused a power outage in Sacramento, reported KCRA-TV.

The crash happened at the intersection of Eastern and Robertson avenues when a driver swerved to miss hitting a cat in the road, officials said.

The driver ended up crashing into a power pole head-on, causing 15,000 people to lose power, officials said.

"I'm surprised she's alive," said witness Jay Maddison. "If it wasn't for her air bags, she'd be dead."
