ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Deputies arrested one adult and four teenagers Friday accused of an armed robbery at an apartment complex near John Young Parkway and Oakridge. Deputies say the suspects pistol-whipped their victim then used a stolen truck to try to get away.“As their speed picked up, our deputies got in a pursuit and chased the vehicle over to the Lake Mann Garden Apartment,” said Cmdr. Spike Hopkins, Orange County sheriff’s department. The five suspects abandoned the truck after it nearly crashed into a house. One man was immediately apprehended by a police dog. He was taken to the hospital where he is being treated for bites. The other four broke into an apartment complex and barricaded themselves. Four people were inside.“While in the building, there were victims who were inside and began to tussle with them while the bad guys were in the house. They called 911 and confirmed they were inside. We were able to establish a perimeter and get all the victims and suspects out,” said Hopkins. The victims were not harmed. The owner of the stolen vehicle will not press charges because one of the suspects is her grandson. Deputies have not recovered the gun used in the robbery. No names have been released.
