Woman Finds Old Bomb In Neighborhood Near Middle School

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- The bomb squad detonated an explosive device after it was discovered in an Orlando neighborhood. Police and fire crews blocked off the streets and evacuated several homes in the Lee Vista Square community Tuesday afternoon.

The neighborhood is less than a mile from Odyssey Middle School. For folks who live in the area, they have joined in the nightmare felt by other communities near the old Pine Castle bombing range."If there's bombs right there in my front yard all this cement and homes everywhere, you know there's stuff underneath it, too," said Lori Hartigan who found the explosive.The Army Corps of Engineers is also searching for munitions in several surrounding neighborhoods, but Lee Vista Square is not one of them. The Corps says it is hoping to add it to the list.
