Fired Disney Worker Files Petition to Get His Job Back

Friday, July 11, 2008 – updated: 3:23 pm EDT July 11, 2008

A fired Disney worker filed a petition in the Orange County courts Friday to get his job back. Edwin Sotomayor, 36, defied Disney by saying it was his right to keep his gun locked in his car at work and that it's protected by a new state law.

RAW INTERVIEW: Fired Disney Employee Talks About Filing Petition

Disney fired him because, it says, guns are still prohibited on the property. Disney believes it is exempt from the law and a spokeswoman says the company maintains a zero-tolerance policy for employees who bring guns onto the property.

Sotomayor filed the lawsuit late Friday morning in state circuit court in Orlando seeking to challenge Disney's position on employee guns and to get his job back.

The State Attorney General's Office is also investigating complaints against Disney for its gun policy.
