Lou Pearlman Owes Fraud Victims Nearly Half A Billion Dollars

Saturday, July 12, 2008 – updated: 6:40 pm EDT July 12, 2008

Federal prosecutors have filed court documents showing confessed con-man Lou Pearlman owes $425-millon to his victims.

Prosecutors want a judge to force him to start paying immediately. They also want the judge to make Pearlman pay interest on the debt, which is an unprecedented request.

Pearlman pleaded guilty to fraud earlier this year and was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison. He owes the millions to individual investors and to banks all over the country.

The former boy-band mogul has claimed he is bankrupt and a court-appointed trustee has been pouring over his assets, trying to liquidate them to begin paying the massive debt Pearlman owes.
