"He started walking and trying to break the main door by taking the pins and hinges," said building manager Fransisco Terneus.

When police showed up at the Sleep Telemedicine Services building (see map), the suspect walked to a van parked in the lot. The officer used a baton to break the window and was dragged when the suspect tried to escape.

"In a matter of minutes, they start fighting, trying to get the guy out of the van. They broke the window and, somehow, the guy just turned on the car and left the premises," said Terneus.

One officer was dragged about 30 to 40 feet before he fell to the ground. The Orlando Police Department immediately issued an alert.

"[The van] was spotted on I-4 40 to 50 minutes later. We were able to surround the area where he was spotted exiting the vehicle and running," said Armando Socarras of the Orlando Police Department.

Winter Park police and the Orange County Sheriff's Office helped Orlando police catch the suspect, identified as James Williams, about 40 minutes later. The incident left the clinic building manager wondering why the suspect targeted his clinic.

"Maybe for some equipment, we have drugs, this is a clinic. Was he on drugs? We don't know," said Terneus.

Williams was charged with resisting officer with violence, attempted burglary of occupied structure, grand theft auto, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder.

The police officer who was dragged is expected to recover.
