ORLANDO, Fla. -- Houses were built on a site in Orlando that was once used by the military to test chemical weapons. Inspectors will test the land near Orlando International Airport for chemicals and munitions. In the 1940s, the government leased the land for soldier training with bombs and chemicals. In 1950 and again in 2005, the land was cleared for chemical warfare materials.Pictures uncovered during the Pinecastle bombing range investigation show the chemical yard was also used as a bombing range. The investigation will start in January. The site inspection will cost $1.2 million.
