OUC Expected To Propose Rate Hike Next Week

Friday, July 18, 2008

Rate increases expected for Orlando Utilities Commission customers in the fall may be the beginning of a string of increases.

Last month, the company announced a plan to request a 13 percent increase because of soaring fuel costs. Company officials told Channel 9 on Friday they'll now propose a seven percent hike next week, which is expected to gain board approval in August.

OUC may also double their rates in the next 20 years as they make more investments into nuclear power and clean energy.
