Crooks broke into Bess MacConnell's handicapped-accessible van and damaged the lift."They don't care about what they do to other people," said MacConnell. "They just get what they want and do it to someone else."She's stuck with a $2,700 repair bill her insurance won't completely cover. Many of the 64 other burglaries were smash and grabs as well."We can come out and dust and sometimes get prints that belong to the owner or someone the owner knows," said Barb Jones of the Orlando Police Department.Police have been tracking the cases, the locations and even times of day the crimes have occurred. The passenger window in Amy Labelle's boyfriend's car was smashed out and when the alarm sounded and the burglar ran off without taking anything."We still have to replace the window," said Labelle. "It's a waste of our money."Orlando police say they've made three arrests associated with car burglaries in College Park but believe there are still more thieves out there.
