Pedestrian Hit, Killed By Car While Crossing SR-441

APOPKA, Fla. -- Apopka police said a man was killed Monday morning while trying to cross South Orange Blossom Trail to catch the bus.

Investigators were interviewing witnesses who saw the incident occur shortly before 6:00am Monday on Orange Blossom trail, just south of Roger Williams. They said the pedestrian was described as a white or Hispanic male in his 20's.Witnesses who were getting on and off the bus at the time of the incident said he was running from the northbound side of SR-441 to the southbound side when he was hit by a vehicle and thrown into the median.The crash closed southbound SR-441 just south of SR-436, from Roger Williams Avenue to Hiawassee Road, so that Apopka police could further investigate the scene. The road was re-opened Monday aruond 9:30am.
