Residents Ready To Go To Court Over Old Bombing Range

Friday, July 25, 2008 – updated: 9:24 am EDT July 25, 2008

Homeowners who are part of a growing class action lawsuit finally broke their silence.

The expensive homes in the Vista Lakes area were built on top of the former Pine Castle bombing range. The class action lawsuit alleges that mortgage companies, developers, and builders knew about the bombing range, but didn't disclose the information to buyers.

"I would not have bought there if I had known there was a bombing range there. Hands down no question, I would not have bought in this community," said homeowner Tom Beard.

For the first time, the neighborhood's attorney, Robert Robbins, spoke about the case saying he can prove everyone up to the county level knew what this land used to be.

"The motives as we allege in our case is that they elevated the value of money over the value of human life," he said.

The suit could force companies like Engle Homes and American Mortgage to buy back some of the properties.
