Orange County Votes To Oppose Permit For Water Bottling Company

Lake County is getting some help in the fight to keep the Niagara Bottling Company from tapping a local aquifer.

Orange County commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday to pass a resolution opposing a 5-year permit that was granted by the Saint Johns Water Management District.

A memo from Orange County Commissioner Teresa Jacobs claimed the permit to bottle water was "wholly inconsistent" with local efforts to convince residents to conserve.

Her fellow commissioners agreed.
